Rohit De Souza
CEO and President
Rohit De Souza serves as Chief Executive Officer. Rohit brings nearly 25 years of blue chip, strategic technology and change management experience to the role, having driven results at both large enterprise technology companies and smaller, early stage ventures in a global context. Prior to his appointment at Actian, Rohit held the President and acting CEO position at BeyondCore, where he refocused its go-to-market strategy and drove the acquisition of the company by Salesforce. Prior to BeyondCore, Rohit held multiple leadership positions at HP, including Vice President and General Manager for HP Software – Autonomy / IDOL and prior to that Vice President and General Manager for its Retail Publishing division, where he was responsible for the business’ exponential growth and established HP as a leader in worldwide retail photo and publishing. Rohit has held leadership roles at Siebel, Oracle, Booz Allen & Hamilton and Intel, where in each instance he contributed to the accelerated growth and market success of the firm. Rohit holds dual master’s degrees in engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and an undergraduate degree in engineering from Madras University in India.
Chief Financial Officer
Gregg Hampton serves as the Chief Financial Officer, having served the same role at Blue Coat Systems since August 2013. As Actian CFO, Gregg leads the financial and administrative organizations including the finance, IT, HR and legal teams. Prior to his Blue Coat CFO role, Gregg served as Vice President of Business Operations for Blue Coat. Before joining Blue Coat, Gregg served in various roles at HP, including General Manager of Enterprise Software and Vice President of Finance. Gregg had joined HP through its acquisition of Mercury Interactive, where he served as Vice President of Internal Audit/Global Compliance and Corporate Controller. Prior to joining Mercury Interactive, Gregg held a variety of positions at Sun Microsystems. Gregg started his career at Touche Ross (now Deloitte & Touche LLP).
SVP – Human Resources
Colleen Carr is the Senior Vice President, Human Resources for Actian and leads the company’s vision, strategy, and programs around its people.
With more than 25 years in leadership roles at public and private technology companies, Colleen has a proven track record for creating working environments in which employees thrive. She joined Actian from Blue Coat Systems Inc. where she served as the senior vice president of human resources. At Blue Coat Systems, Colleen was responsible for all HR activities focusing on building employee and management systems and programs for innovation and scale, employee engagement and acquisitions.
Colleen has held senior leadership roles in human resources at Hewlett-Packard Company and Agilent Technologies. She also spent four years consulting with multiple companies and various projects.
SVP – Marketing
Jeff Veis is SVP, Marketing at Actian. He is responsible for product, solution, partner, brand and digital marketing initiatives on a global basis. Jeff has over 20 years of enterprise software marketing experience at high-growth companies. He conceived and founded the Liberty Alliance Project creating a global standard for federated digital identity. Prior to Actian, he held senior level positions at Hewlett Packard Enterprise Software’s Big Data Analytics and Information Management Group, SAP BusinessObjects, BEA Systems, Sun Microsystems, ActiveGrid and Booz-Allen. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Northwestern University and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
SVP - Engineering
As SVP of Engineering at Actian, Emma leads development for the Actian Vector and Ingres teams, including the Ingres and Vector X100 components, and the Actian Matrix sustaining team. A leading authority in DBMS technologies, Emma has celebrated over 20 years in Ingres and Actian Engineering.
VP - Engineering
Volker John is Vice President of Engineering at Actian. His current responsibilities include overseeing the research and development efforts for all of Actian’s NoSQL, Graph, and BaaS technologies, as well as providing senior engineering leadership on the executive staff. He joined Actian in 2012 when it acquired Versant GmbH, where he was managing director. He previously held senior positions in product management and business development at several software and service providers. Volker is based in Hamburg, Germany.
Bikram Gupta Sarma
VP - Platform Engineering
Bikram is Vice President of Platform Engineering at Actian, overseeing Zen embedded database, integration engineering and engineering operations. He has over three decades of experience in executive operations, product development and global management. Prior to Actian, Bikram founded Straxium corporation – a company engaged in global management of innovation and leadership in cloud and infrastructure technologies. He also held various positions at Oracle managing different countries as VP Global Center operations, VP Systems Technology and VP Platform Engineering. Bikram has a BS in Electronics Engineering and a MS in Mathematics from BITS, Pilani India. He also undertook certificate courses in Project Management, Finance and Disruptive innovation from Stanford and Harvard Universities.
VP - Global Support & Managed Services
Pamela Fowler is currently Vice President, Global Support and Managed Services managing the Global Enterprise Support Services delivery team at Actian Corporation.
Pamela is responsible for building the entire supporting infrastructure, strategic direction and tactical execution of the global support and managed services organizations. She has directly controlled all aspects of the global support delivery model, policies, procedures and infrastructure. She provides strategic leadership by representing the ‘voice of the customer’ to management across all functional areas within Actian. As well, built out and utilizes core industry benchmarks to measure and continually improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the global operations. In addition, she is responsible for the escalation and security vulnerability management within Actian Corporation ensuring industry best practices are utilized in addressing, and delivering, to market.
Pamela has been at Actian Corporation, Inc.(formerly Ingres Corporation) since it was incorporated in November of 2005 when it was divested as a new entity from CA (formerly known as CA, Inc.). Prior to the divestiture of Ingres Corporation Pamela held several leadership roles within CA heading various areas within technical support and was instrumental in driving on CA’s supporting operations. Prior to CA Pamela was the Vice President of Technical Support for the enterprise and database management software at Platinum Technology, Inc. During all of these roles she has been heavily involved in the operational management, build out, and development of multiple global 24X7 support call centers.
Pamela has 25 years of extensive industry experience as an IT professional focused heavily around database, application, and enterprise technology across all platforms and multi-vendor solutions.
Pamela holds both a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems from DeVry Institute of Technology and a masters degree in Business Administration from Dominican University.
SVP - General Counsel & Corporate Secretary
Chris Nadan is SVP, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, heading the legal department and responsible for all legal affairs for Actian. Chris has over 20 years’ legal experience at global high-tech companies, including Deputy General Counsel for Sun Microsystems, where he won Sun’s Chairman’s Award for Innovation. A frequent speaker and writer, Chris has been an adjunct professor of law at U.C. Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law, and his published articles were twice cited by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in support of ground-breaking legal cases. Chris was an attorney at Farella, Braun & Martel in San Francisco, and received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University and his J.D. from U.C. Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law.
